In The words of Roy Orbison
its over,       its over,        its OoooOver

Yes folks the best year the Bobcats have had since their inception was ended this evening in a 6 - 4 loss to the Deseronto Shield.

story  by Ian Gibson

In a phone conversation with Coach Ryan Leonard the loss this evening was not due to the effort put forth by the Bobcats. The Coach was very disappointed in a second period change of heart by the referee. Coach Leonard said that an original 2:00 minute penalty  turned into a 5:00 minute penalty after the fact (almost two minutes later according to Ryan) when blood mysteriously appeared coming from the victims mouth! During that 5:00 minute penalty the Storm managed three goals to bring the score to 4 - 2 for the Storm. In the third the Cats managed two to tie the score, unfortunately with less than three minutes the Storm got another and with one second to go slid one into an empty net.

The Storm now advance to the final for the third year in a row and we wish them luck.  They have a squad most of whom have been together for three years and that along with a very hot goalie puts them in a favourable position to win the Russell Cup.

Ryan also stated he was impressed and very pleased with this years Bobcat squad.  After all they did finish as League Champs with a record of 35 wins, 4 losses, 3 overtime losses (an 83.3% win record) and set team records with a win streak of 17 games (20 if you add in the play offs).  Time to rebuild for next year, says Leonard, with the promise of three players to return (and probably more as we near next season).

On behalf of the fans, I would like to add my congratulations and thanks to all of the Elliot Lake Bobcats for a great and entertaining season.
