The Storm swept in and ended Cats winning streak!

story and photos by Ian Gibson

#31 Travis Elvin stopped 59 of the 61 shots fired at him in the Storm victory.

Elliot Lake Centennial Arena March 11, 2010; Elliot Lake Bobcats 2, Deseronto Storm 3.

The Elliot Lake Bobcats had their winning streak cut off at twenty games tonight when #17 Brad Clark fired one past goalie Matt Perry at the 10:59 mark of the second over time period.  Tonight's contest was one that the Elliot Lake fans have not seen in a long time.  The Deseronto Storm were able to skate with and check as well as the Cats are able to do.  If it wasn't for the (at least) three game saving goals made by #1 Matt Perry the score could have been a lot worse.  Although a lot of the fans liked the calibre of  play there were some who said that the Cats were not up to snuff.  They thought that there could have been better back checking, fewer across ice passes and quicker changes especially from those leaving the ice.  Sure they were tired, but they should have hustled on to the bench so that the fresh legs could get out there.  Noticed also were quite a few errant passes giving up odd man rushes.  The Cats didn't beat  the Storm goaltender on any long shots, he managed to stop them all.  It is said that the Deseronto Storm have a very good power play, however they didn't have a chance to use it as the Cats were penalty free for the 79 minutes it took to finish this game.

This looks like it is going to be a great series and if you weren't one of the approximately 175 fans in the stands tonight, you missed a good one.  Tomorrow night should prove to be a super game as most expect the Cats to come out flying.  Lets prove the fans right boys, win that game tomorrow night!  Go Cats Go
