Bobcats Blast Dragons 8 to 1

Had it not been for Dragons goalie #30 Martjin Oosterwijk who played the third period,
the score would have been far worse!

Elliot Lake ON, Friday Jan 22, 2010, Elliot Lake Bobcats 8, Powassan Dragons 1.

The somewhat lopsided score could have been a whole bag of hurt had it not been for some sterling net minding by #30 Martjin Oosterwijk who turned away 18 of the 21 shots sent his way by the very persistent Cats. He actually took away some great opportunities from #17 Branislav Jankovic who was busy trying to find the back of the net for the fifth time this evening. That's right folks not only did Branislov score four times he assisted on a goal also.

It may sound as if the whole game revolved around #17, but the truth is he was just finishing the plays set up by a well oiled machine called the Bobcats!  Roman Jurak #13 accounted for one goal and three assists to net four points and #12 David Sefcik got three points via two goals and one assist.  The lopsided score not only was due to the effectiveness of the offense, but also to the defence and of course some great goal tending by #1 Matt Perry. 

Shots on goal were 54 for the Bobcats to 24 for the Dragons.  The Dragons just did not seem to be able to get anything going for themselves, and to give them credit did not get chippy!

All in all it was a very entertaining evening for the 200 odd Bobcat fans who not only enjoyed the game but were treated to a very well done figure skating dance routine by the young lady pictured below:
