Bobcats Bounce Bucks 13 - 6
story and photos by Ian Gibson

Even this type of defence could not stem the tide of thirteen goals
Friday October 9, 2009 was not a good day for the Brock Bucks as they crumbled
under the onslaught of the ever buzzing Bobcats who out shot the Bucls 54 to 27.
The cats came out skating hard in the first period as did the Bucks. The
bucks managed to find a couple of quick goals at the end of the period to
head to the dressing room with a three/three tie. Coach Leonard replaced goal
tender Perry with Christie at the 3:08 mark immediately after the Bucks scored
their 3rd goal.
The second period found the cats licking their wounds
somewhat, however they managed to stand their ground. With 14 seconds to go and
the score tied five all, the Captain #16 Matt Rogers found the back of the net
with what is termed a very timely moral lifting goal to give the Cats the lead
heading into the third.
The third period was all Cats as they 'lit up the Bucks
goalie' no less than seven times with the Bucks responding once in what they
must have felt was a long twenty minutes. The Bucks seemed to run out of
gas and our boys just kept on trucking including two short handed goals.
The outstanding players where hard to pick this game due to
the fast flying forwards and excellent defensive play, however I found #15 Grant
VanSlembrouck and #21 Edward Sedivy gave it their best for the Bobcats. No
one in particular stood out for the Bucks, surprizingly the replacement goalie #
31 Pavlo Stepanenko, who really had no defence keeping the doorstep clean for
him, made a brilliant stop and was well positioned regardless of the fact that
they scored 5 times on him, also #17 Stanislav Shcherbakov was instrumental in
three of the Bucks six goals.
