Sixteen in a Row with One to Go!
Bobcats continue record breaking streak!
story and photos by Ian Gibson

The above is the result as 77's come up way short!

Right, here is the plan, we'll occupy these two and you steal the puck!
Elliot Lake Centennial Arena, Friday February 19, 2010: Elliot
Lake Bobcats 14, Oro Medonte 77's 1.
The Cats came out flying in the first period outscoring the 77's
seven to nil. The majority of the game found the play in the 77's end of the
rink, this is confirmed by the shots on goal which were a total of 14 for the
77's and 69 by the Cats. Even when the Cats were defending a 5 on 3 they had a
couple of rushes and shots on goal. As a matter of fact they scored three
short handed goals, one in each period. This team definitely has a lot of
depth when 15 of the 21 dressed players, two of which are the goalies, got
points in the scoring column of the game sheet. Notables for this game were #23
Patrik Mirga (who celebrates his 18th birthday today) with 5 points, #17
Branislav Jankovic with 4 points (all goals!) and #13 Roman Jurak with 4 points.
Roman scored a goal in exactly the same manner as the Slovak team winning goal
in last nights win in the shoot out against the Russians'. If you didn't see it
being replayed a number of times on TV today it was done by skating by the the
goalie leaving the stick and puck trailing behind him and the goalie falling for
the ruse by going with the player and the puck being tucked in behind.
One more win and the Bobcat's will finish in first place by one
point. One more win and the team record for successive wins in a row will
be seventeen. Keep up the great teamwork Cats and do your best not to lose
any during the playoffs. Go Cats Go!
