Best Game of the Season said Coach Leonard
as Cats weather Storm 3 to 1
story and photos by Ian Gibson

It was saves like this that kept the Storm in the game!
Friday October 16, 2009, Centennial Arena - if you were amongst
the 350 odd fans you were treated to a great game. Both the goalies were
outstanding warding off good opportunities at both ends of the rink. The
total shots on goal were 45 for the Cats to 31 for the Deseronto Storm, which in
itself is a testimony to the great goal tending and tribute to the offense.
The first period was end to end action as both teams felt each
other out. The Cats opened the scoring at 8:55 by Johnnny Johnson
from Filhtaut and Pilatic. The Storm replied with 6:35 to go on
a shot from the point by # 91 Jeff Moris from Deaver and Clark, during a power
play. The period ended tied one all.
The Bobcats came out of the locker room as if they had rockets
on their skates and it paid off with them managing to get it by #39 Travis Elvin
twice before the close of the second.
The third saw excellent offense and defence from both teams.
It literally had everything from a sliding blocked shot by the Cats on an
attempt from the slot to speedy aggressive back checking.
From my vantage point, and I dare repeat myself, it was a great
game and I for one am glad that I did not miss it.
Outstanding players this game: Aside from both goalies (#1 Matt
Perry for the Cats and #38 Travis Elvin for the Storm) I would select the whole
of the 2nd period Bobcats who were on fire and #17 Brad Clark plus #91 Jeff
Morris for the Storm.
Coaches Comment: The best game of the year where all four
lines played very well and goal tending was excellent.
