Elliot Lake, Friday November 13, 2009.  Friday the thirteenth Pasha! The Elliot Lake bobcats pulled the proverbial 'rabbit out of the hat' this evening by scoring four times in the third period to 'rattle the Rattlers' in a 5 - 4 victory.
A large crowd of approximately 350 seemed disappointed at the end of the first period when the Cats found themselves lagging behind the Bradford Rattlers three one heading for the locker room. In truth it seemed like they were back on their heels and slightly mesmerized by the Rattlers.

The Cats came out for the second and although they seemed to skate a lot faster and hit a little better still ended the period with a four to one deficit. The Cats did a lot of things right except finding the back of the net. and then it happened.........

What looked like a brand new team magically appeared at about seventh minute of the third period. a nice play by Hyde and Jurak set up a goal by Smolen to start the ball rolling.  Two minutes later and individual effort by Chad Burrows brought the crowd to life by bringing the Cats to within one. Three and a half minutes later Grant VanSlembrouck from Dojcar tied it up totally peaking the interest of the fans.  By this point not only were the fans fired up but the Cats were running on all pistons and a final individual effort by Kevin Filthault got the game winner with 5:27 left in the period.  all were glued to their seats (or to the floor for the standees) and no one left the arena as we collectively held our breath for the last minutes of the game. A Bradford penalty with 42 seconds remaining sealed the deal for the Bobcats.

Bobcat goalie Blake Robinson did a lot of  hard work specially in the second and third periods, he turned away 26 of the 27 shots during those two periods doing his part in this brilliant come back victory.

Let us not take anything away from the Bradford Rattlers, they have a good team, however, after tonight it just goes to show you that any team can win or lose at any given time.

Outstanding players for the Bobcats, #19 Kevin Filthault for his game winner, Chad Burrows and Blake Robinson for his 2nd & 3rd period effort.  The Rattlers saw outstanding play from #77 Artem Podshendyalov, #24 Segey Romanov and #13 Stanislav Izvekov.
