nice pass and a pretty goal (puck in lower left of net)

I hopped on the Bobcat bus and went to the Soo to watch the Elliot Lake Bobcat’s and the Thessalon Algoma Avalanche play their second pre-season game.

Although it was an exciting game, I found that both the defense and goal tending could have been a lot better.  The fact that the Avalanche only managed 33 shots on goal and scored seven times…..  that means that 21.21% of the time goals were going in.  I know we can do better.  Quite frankly two of the goals scored on us in the third period found the team completely back on their heels!  I know coach Leonard will be working on these regions in the coming week so that the boys will be ready for the home opener against the Oro Medonte 77’s on Friday evening September 11, 2009.

The forwards performed quite well managing to find the back of the net six times.  I am looking forward to some great performances from this team this year, not to mention the rivalry that has set itself between ourselves and the Avalanche.

Coaches Ryan Leonard's comments:  Overall, it was a good game with the offence doing the right things, however we have to work on the defense, also the goal tending struggled.

My pics for this game for the Bobcats #17 Jankovic, #16 Rogers, # 23 Mirga all played well.  For the Avalanche, who else? yes that's right #12 Thomas Stewart. Kudos to both Branislav  Jankovic and Thomas Stewart for each of them getting a hat trick, well done boys!
