Bobcats in epic overtime battle with Shield story by Ian Gibson and photos by Gary Davies
Elliot Lake Centenial Arena Dec 4, 2009 Elliot Lake Bobcats 3 vs South Muskoka Shield 4 in overtime. I spent the entire game in the box, no I wasn't bad I was just doing a favour for Doug Dumont who is away this weekend. From what I could see from my viewpoint the game was the clean well fought battle one would expect from the leagues two top teams. It was high speed, end to end action with evenly split penalties with the exception of a penalty in overtime which lead to the four on three situation. I'll give credit where credit is due, the Bobcats stood their ground well and the penalty was almost over when #7 Adam MacBeth of the Shield found the back of the net with 28 seconds left in the game. Even though we only got one point it is very important to note that the Elliot Lake Bobcats are the only team in the League who are undefeated in their home arena! What we saw tonight was a preview of what should be the two remaining teams when it comes to the cup finals! Great game guys it could have gone either way tonight! More photos by Gary Davies:
