Bobcats win semi-final in a rematch against the Toronto Moose 5 - 1

story  by Ian Gibson

Elliot Lake November 28, 2009; Elliot Lake Bobcats vs Toronto Moose.
Regrettably I was not at the game and can only base this story on the score sheet and views of the Coach and fans.  According to Coach Leonard the Moose came out in the first period trying to throw their weight around. Unfortunately they were out weighed and came up on the short end of the stick.  The fans I talked to thought it was a great game but thought that the referees were calling a lot of penalties. According to the score sheet they called a total of 37 penalties; 18 for the Cats and 19 for the Moose.

At 10:37 #22 Greg Hyde scored from #10 Derrick Pilatic and  #7 Chad Barrows starting one of two for the first period.  The second goal was scored by #10 Derrick Pilatic assisted by #25 Drew Scannella with 2:49 left in the period.

In the second period the Cats #11 Filip Kajba netted one assisted by #12 David Sefcik and #16 Matt Rogers.  The Moose scored their one and only tally at the 15:22 mark when #10 Bryar Hill got one by Cats Goalie Blake Robinson, assisted by # 9 Giammarco Aiello and #15 Alexander Nilsson. The Cats are now ahead 3 - 1.

During the third period the Cats managed two more; one by #9 Patrick Smolen, assisted by #19 Kevin Filthaut and #15 Grant VanSlembrouck, the second and last by #13 Roman Jurak assisted by #23 Patrick Mirga with 2:22 left in the game.  The 2:22 might as well have been the devils '666' as this is when two fights broke out according to the score sheet with all four participants getting 5 minute majors!

We are now in the final, well done boys!
