Elliot Lake Bobcats Take 2nd Place in the 3rd Annual Showcase Classic

The Elliot Lake Bobcats hosted the 3rd Annual Showcase Classic from November 22nd to November 24th, bringing in an exciting tournament of top GMHL teams to compete in the 3 day event.

After a three game round-robin, the Bobcats were seated in 2nd place going into the quarter finals.

In the quarter finals the Bobcats played the Deseronto Storm and beat them 7-2 and advanced to the semi-finals, where they won again to earn a spot in the Final game.

In the finals, the Bobcats played against the Sturgeon Falls Lumberjacks. The final game was a close match up, as the game went into overtime, with a score of 3-3 at the end of regulation. Sturgeon Falls ultimately scored in overtime, winning the tournament.

The Bobcats play again tonght (November 25th) against the undefeated Temiscaming Titans, 8:15PM in Elliot Lake.

Bobcats Defeat the Mattawa Voyageurs, 3-1

The Elliot Lake Bobcats continued their winning streak by beating the Mattawa Voyageurs in Elliot Lake on November 16th. The Bobcats out shot the Voyageurs 47-23 in the game.

Elliot Lake started out scoring early in the 1st period on a goal by Nelson Morningstar (Nathan McLeod). The Bobcats continued the momentum with Gustaf Skoog (Jakob Scheerer, Daniel Cuchran) scoring another goal in the 2nd period. In the 3rd period Michel Dumont of the Voyageurs scored on a power play. The Bobcats answered back and scored a 3rd goal by Jakob Scheerer (Gustaf Skoog).

The Bobcats are back on the road this weekend, playing the Temiscaming Titans on November 18th and the Sturgeon Falls Lumberjacks on November 19th. 

Bobcats Win 2 Games on Their Weekend Road trip

The Elliot Lake Bobcats set out on a two game road trip, playing a game on November 11th against the Lefroy Waves and a game on November 12th against the Toronto Canada Moose. They managed to clinch both games extending their winning streak to three.

The Bobcats beat the Lefroy Waves, 5-1. They scored two goals in the first period, one by Lukas Potocek (Andrej Paska, Tomas Nemeth) and the second by Cameron Andersen (Cale Schoenberg, Milan Sinkovic).

The second period also had two goals scored by the Bobcats, the first by Tomas Nemeth (Lukas Potocek) and the second by Nelson Morningstar (Jumpei Suzuki).

The third period the Bobcats added one more goal by Cameron Andersen (Cale Schoenberg, John Waghorne).

The Bobcats outshot the Waves 42-15 and Elliot Lake goalie Pavlo Borko had 14 SV and a .933 SV%.

Elliot Lake had similar success against the Toronto Canada Moose, beating them 5-2 on November 12th. The Bobcats out shot the Moose 49-19 and the Bobcats goalie, Ainis Zalans had 17 SV and a .895 SV%.

Elliot Lake started out behind as Toronto scored 2 power play goals in the 1st period, both by Vasiliy Lokotkov.

The Bobcats answered back in the 2nd period, scoring 2 goals and tying up the game. The 1st goal was by Lukas Potocek (Andrej Paska) and the 2nd goal was by Nelson Morningstar (Nathan McLeod, Milan Sinkovic).

The Bobcats pulled away in the 3rd period, scoring 2 more goals on power plays and 1 more at the end of the game on an empty net. The 1st goal was scored by Andrej Stefancik (Sebastian Andersson). The 2nd goal was scored by Cameron Andersen (Cale Schoenberg, Tomas Nemeth). The 3rd goal was scored by Tomas Nemeth (Cale Schoenberg, Cameron Andersen).

The Bobcats next game is on Wednesday November 16th in Elliot Lake against the Mattawa Voyageurs.
